Waterproof SMB Connectors for Launch at Electronica
Due for launch at Electronica 2004 is Bulgin's latest waterproof connector, an SMB RF connector.
Designed to the same style as Bulgin's 400 Series Buccaneer, the new SMB connector has an overall diameter of just 19mm with a panel fixing hole of 16mm diameter. Rated at IP68, to provide complete protection from harsh environments, the connector uses industry standard SMB plugs and jacks together with RG-174 cable.
The 50ohm system has a frequency response up to 4GHz utilising gold plated bodies and contacts to ensure system performance and reliability is maintained. Tough UL-94V0 rated moulding materials provide complete protection for the SMB interface.
The Flex connector, with an SMB plug, is available in two styles; a re-wireable version, PX0415, that allows the product to be terminated in situ and an pre-wired overmoulded construction, PX0416, with three standard lengths of RG-174 terminated cable, 1m, 3m and 5m.
The chassis connector, PX0414, with an SMB jack, is supplied with RG-174 cable already terminated in lengths of 0.5m, 1.0m and 1.5m, this provides fast assembly to the panel and only requires termination into the equipment.
Sealing caps are available to maintain the IP rating of unmated connectors.
This new connector range is ideal for applications where a compact RF interface is required in external or harsh environments, for example: broadband communications, LAN/internet routing, instrumentation and telemetry equipment.
